A Lilac Dream: A Magical Day at Ashfield House

There is something truly special about a wedding that breaks tradition in the most beautiful way. On March 13th, 2026, I had the absolute pleasure of performing at Ashfield House in Wigan, and it was a day filled with so much personality, color, and genuine warmth that I’m still smiling about it.

From the moment I arrived at this stunning venue, the energy was electric. Ashfield House always provides such a grand yet intimate backdrop, but this particular celebration felt exceptionally unique.

The Ceremony: A Bold and Beautiful Entrance

As the guests took their seats, I began the prelude music, setting a romantic tone for what was to come. For the processional, the couple chose the timeless classic "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis Presley.

I’ve played this song at many weddings, but I’ve never seen an entrance quite like this one. When the doors opened, I actually caught my breath—the bride looked absolutely radiant in a stunning, ruffled lilac dress. It was a breathtaking departure from tradition that perfectly captured her style.

The ceremony itself was incredibly moving. Their vows were deeply personal and unique, and you could feel the immense love radiating through the room. It’s moments like these that remind me why the violin is such a perfect instrument for weddings; it carries that raw emotion right along with the couple’s words.

Drinks & Magic in the Air

Following the "I dos," we moved into the bar area for the drinks reception. I shifted the tempo, playing a mix of popular modern hits and upbeat classics to keep the celebratory mood going.

While the couple headed out into the grounds for some photos (wait until you see the shot of that dress against the early spring greenery!), I had a quick chance to reset. The atmosphere was buzzing, bolstered by the amazing Daniel the Magician, who was wowing guests with a mix of mind-bending magic and hypnosis!

The Wedding Breakfast: A High-Energy Welcome

As guests transitioned into the dining area, I played a selection of light, elegant tunes to welcome them to their tables. Then came the grand entrance! The new Mr. and Mrs. were played into the room to the upbeat, infectious energy of "Accidentally In Love" by Counting Crows. The cheers from the crowd were deafening—it was the perfect way to kick off the feast.

Behind the Scenes

One of my favorite parts of the day (aside from the music, of course!) was the chance to recharge in the gorgeous lounge next door. I was treated to a delicious three-course meal and spent the break chatting with the lovely Clare (the photographer) and Daniel. It’s always a treat to work alongside such talented professionals who are just as passionate about making a couple's day perfect as I am.

A huge thank you to the incredible staff at Ashfield House for being so accommodating, and of course, to the happy couple for letting me be a part of their lilac-hued love story.

"Music is what feelings sound like, and this day sounded like pure joy."

Planning your own unique celebration? I would love to help soundtrack your walk down the aisle—lilac dress or otherwise!
